The FHL Daily Podcast: Carmel Mayor on the Kingdom of God

Merlin talked with Mayor Brainard yesterday and asked him the “What if?” question that he has asked people from all walks of life in this interview series.  Please listen in to what Mayor Brainard has to say because it is not unlike what the other Mayors of your central Indiana cities are saying: If the Kingdom of God were already here, you and I would be seeing a lot of things differently than we do right now.  Could it be that those of us in the church are only seeing what we see behind the church walls and not what our governement officials see on a daily basis?  Could it be that what they are telling us is closer to the truth and underscores why we still pray the Lord’s Prayer: “Our Father, Hallowed be thy name. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”  You don’t ask for what you already have.

It’s time to think about what we really see in our cities in Indiana and start doing what we can to show what the Kingdom will look like to all in our actions.  You can do that by getting involved this summer with FHL Week through your church or other organization or directly with FHL.  Go out, as Mayor Cook invites, “beyond the walls of your church”.  Go out as Christ commanded and show people in your communities that God wants better for them.  Tell them and show them.  We’ll soon be posting an FHL Week web site with more information about how you can get started so that you can be a part of changing the lives of others.
