The Joy of the Lord is your strength

Hope you are having a blessed Christmas Season.

Christmas season is known as the ‘Season of Joy ‘but this season is not as happy for some mainly because of the unstable economic situation.

Nehemiah 8:10b, “…for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” There are things in life that you just experience but you don’t fully understand or fully describe them. One of them is Joy. You can be joyful in the midst of trials (James 1:2, Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials…) because our joy does not depend on outside circumstances.

Joy does not depend on better job, bigger house or nicer clothes. Psalm 4:7, “You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.” Joy is knowing that God is within us; He made His home in us – 1 Cor.  3:16, Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?

The Joy of the Lord is your strength:

·       In the midst of losing a job

·       When difficulties come in your relationships

·       Even when you are going through life crises

·       Standing for what you believe in spite of peer pressure

·       Putting God’s agenda first before yours

Our joy arises from within us knowing that God is in charge no matter what we are going through. Knowing that Joy can lead you towards a fulfilling life…a blessed life.

As we look back in 2009, I would like to share with you the blessings you have been with the community through the ministries of FHL. You are part of investing approximately $120,000 (operating expenses) for the Kingdom work and it yielded $580,500 of projects and services throughout Central Indiana:

·       We washed almost 450+ feet and new shoes were placed on those feet in January

·       1000+ Hispanic families and refugees were connected and served through various services

·       Approximately $60,000 worth of produce and farm products from our community gardens

·       We have served more than 1,500 families through our food pantries

·       39 students and 9 Interns benefited from our ESL/SSL classes

·       200+ Single parents received free oil change and 4 donated vehicles

·       $300,000 of various community improvements has been realized through the purposes of FHL Week and other ministries throughout the year.

Most of all, 50+ individuals have decided to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and dozens have re-committed their lives to Christ.

As the demographics of our communities are changing, so is the ‘spiritual demographics’. We are seeing more and more volunteers come to us to serve on a regular basis. Some volunteers have accepted Christ through volunteering with us.

God has been showing us new ways to reach out and to bring the message of hope in tangible ways. He had opened doors for us to minister more effectively through living a lifestyle of unconditional love and service.
