What If It’s True?

A story was once told of a rich man who called his helpers and said, “Put this money to work until I come back.” When he came back, one of the helpers said, “Your money was multiplied 10 times.” The rich man was happy with the result and made the servant in charge of 10 cities. – Based on Luke 19

What if it’s true? In these days of economic roller coasters, we cannot be affected by the perceived notion of others. We have to base our decisions on the ultimate truth. We were created in the image of God and He had entrusted us with His creation. This means that we become His ambassadors on earth and the distributors of His resources. What a privilege!

In 2011, inventory the ROI (Return on Investment) of your resources, time and money. The Bible says that everything in the universe will disappear except faith, hope and love. These three things would be the perfect start to multiply your resources.

Your financial donation to FHL was multiplied ‘six times’ in 2010. More than $67,000.00 worth of goods and services were provided to our neighborhoods last year. God has been multiplying your gifts through FHL. It is through your prayers and support that enable FHL to touch thousands of people in Central Indiana.

Our goal for 2011 (The Year of Faith) is to provide a MILLION DOLLARS worth of goods, projects and services to those in need.  Be a part of it! FHL Week 2011 is, as always, the last week of July.  The first of our area coordinator meetings will be held mid to late February.  It’s an exciting time!  Lot’s of free training in many areas including helping you get the best from the technology you use everyday!

You Are A Part of Creating A Legacy of Transformation!

God has given us favor to work with all sectors of our society, namely: Government, Church/Religion, Business, Family, Education, Arts/Entertainment and Media. In order for transformation to happen, we need to influence all the sectors of our society with Kingdom values and Principles. Revelation 15:11b, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” This means that we will work with them through practical things such as projects and services, events and programs based on Kingdom culture. Transformation is a product of prayers and of transformed hearts.

It’s about relationship!

Projects and services are some of the ways to start relationships with others. Many times, we see tragedies and catastrophes unite a city or a country. Why wait until these things happen? Now is the time to work towards closer relationship with one another. John 17:22-23, “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”-NIV

What would you like our city to be by the end of 2011?

The current state of our city is a reflection of what we had done in the past. Today is yesterday’s future and we can start working together towards the future of our generation today.

Recent Updates

About 2 or 3 years ago, I mentioned to the Lord that it would be great to have permanent Prayer ‘Trailer/Bus’. This ‘movable temple’ can be made available to the local neighborhoods and for us to create an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit can touch people’s hearts other than in a building of a church or a ministry. It’s in a neutral ground and in a local community; even in a place where violence and demonic activities happened before. The Lord granted my wish when a church offered FHL a bus last summer. See the attached picture. If we can have a church sponsor the Prayer Bus and to get their people to pray in the streets, then people will receive the Glory of God outside of the confinement of a building. God will become more tangible to them. My vision is to have a church sponsor the bus a month. We just need 12 churches for the entire year and we’ll be in 12 neighborhoods!

  • As one of the Hosts for Channel 8 Religion in the News TV program I had the privilege to interview Gabrielle Campo, Refugees Resettlement Director for Catholic Charities. This ministry also works with FHL in our vehicle/car ministry.
  • FHL is joining several networks in Central Indiana to form Emergency Christian Network. This network will work with Christian organizations to be able to respond quickly in case of any emergencies arise in Central Indiana.
  • I joined our Evangelism Team at 10th/Rural on Sat. Nov 13th. At least one person accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior for the first time. I am encouraged to see some new volunteers joining our Evangelism team.

Where’s The Gap?

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord”. – Romans 8:38-39
And yet, we wonder where God is during the tough times of our lives. God seems like far away and is not able to rescue us from our challenges. The Bible says that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. So where’s the gap? In the world and it’s on us. Lack of faith & unbelief.  Somehow, we miss it or we resist the love of God.
On Wednesday, Nov. 17th, at Fleming’s Steakhouse, we will touch base more on this issue. How is it that the 7 Cultural Mountains are missing the love of God? Hope you can come to join us in our quest to transform our city.

City Transformations

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,” – Ephesians 3:20

I am writing this article while attending the ‘Mountain Movers’ Conference in Toronto, Canada. It is exciting to share with you my experience these last few days; it’s been life changing for me. I had the opportunity to visit:

  • Manchester, KY October 16-17 www.glowtorch.org ‘The Appalachian Dawn”. Together with several FHL leaders, we met some of the leaders, pastors and the Mayor of the city. We were able to tour the entire city and visited places that were transformed through the power of God.
    • Isolated in the heartland of Appalachia, the city of Manchester, Kentucky, appeared to be the unlikeliest place for societal breakthrough to occur. In 1964, a CBS news report gave Manchester the dubious distinction “Depressed City, USA.” In 2001, the Drug Enforcement Agency included Manchester in a region listed as the “Painkiller Capital of America.” That is until May 2, 2004, when 63 churches and 3,500 people united together as community catalysts to march against drugs. The following year, Manchester became the only area in the region where painkiller prescriptions actually decreased. Drug arrests would increase by a staggering 300 percent. Where favoritism, fraud, and extortion were once the law of the land, government corruption would soon be uncovered. Within three years, public officials, including the mayor, the city supervisor, the assistant police chief, the 911 Director, the fire chief, the circuit court judge, a handful of city councilmen, county commissioners and county.
    • Consequently, in 2007, the city council voted to change the name of the city to “Manchester: City of Hope.” What seemed like a mountain that was insurmountable is now becoming possible with GOD. Ironically, a community once considered “behind the times” has now become a compelling story for our times.
    • TORONTO, CANADA, OCT 20-23 http://www.ctftoronto.com/ Toronto Christian Fellowship Church – known internationally as a global revival center. This is my 3rd visit to this church. The first one was in Sept. 2004, and just after a few months, the Lord birthed the ministry of FHL in 2005.  The conference name is ‘Mountain Movers’ Conference.
      • On January 20 1994, God visited this small and unknown church by the Toronto International Airport. Nightly meetings, except Monday nights, started and continued for 11 years. By 2004 it was recorded that over 5 million people visited the church from all over the world.
      • This was also known as the ‘Toronto Blessing”. Based on the Book, ‘The World’s Greatest Revivals’ by Fred & Sharon Wright said that Two Truths ignited the ‘outpouring’ – the love of the Father and our need for inner healing. It was recorded, including the ministry of Faith, Hope and Love, countless ministries and churches were birthed because they brought the blessings home with them.
      • One of the most significant ministry of the Holy Spirit was to a person named Heidi Baker (one of the Speakers at the Conference). After meeting God in Toronto, her life was changed. She went to Mozambique with her young family with one-way ticket and only $30 in their pocket. Heidi shared that through her ministry, 10,000+ churches were planted, thousands of people are fed every day, established colleges and orphanages, etc.

Tangible Ways To Assist Our City

Have you ever thought that the currency of heaven is different than the currency of the world? Yes, we still need money to survive. But, what if we start a revolution that money becomes secondary in order for us to live a productive life?

Look at these “real life” Kingdom provisions.  FHL has:

  • Acres of farms that we do not own, farmers who till the land but do not receive salaries, rather, they keep most of their harvest and draw personal fulfillment through working with their hands
  • Fleet of vehicles we don’t own. These are vehicles owned by others who allow FHL to use them almost anytime.
  • Providing the city grocery items worth thousands of dollars on a monthly basis through our community partners
  • Thousands of square feet of warehouse space without paying rent
  • Hundreds of co-laborers who do not expect to be paid but are willing to invest their time and resources to help those in need
  • Given several vehicles to those in need through designated donated vehicles

We don’t always need money to function productively in some areas of our lives. We need to explore… Partnerships, Sponsorships, Collaborations, Networking and Bartering. Also, let’s avoid too much talk without action.

Unleavened Bread Cafe Needs Our Help: Can You Volunteer?

  • Drywall mud
  • Drywall tape
  • Insulation
  • Outdoor building vent (attic)
  • We also could use some help this Monday Sept. 13th
  • Drywall labor
  • Framing labor
  • Masonry Labor
  • Cleaning and General Labor

We plan on having coordinated activities and projects every Monday at the cafe.

“Backyard Mission”

The 2010 FHL Week (‘Mission Trip in your own backyard,’ July 25-31, 2010) brought unity in Central Indiana. For just a week of ‘Unconditional Love’, dozens of projects was completed, more than 1500 volunteers worked together, 100+ organizations got involved, new partnerships started and relationships were formed. Through countless hours of meetings and planning, organizations, ministries and individuals got to know each other way ahead of the FHL week. When FHL Week came, many people become friends and the projects become second priority. Many volunteers found out that we can accomplish more if we get to know each other first rather than being a good project manager.

Luke 10 :27, “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.‘”

It’s not about the projects; it’s about people. It’s not about transactions but relations.

It’s not foreign to us that our busyness becomes a hindrance to get to know our neighbors. Sometime meetings that seem fruitless will yield more than just getting the projects done but to get to know our neighbors (meaning our fellow leaders, pastors and our families). Jesus said on John 17: 22-23, “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23I in them and you in me. May they be brought to com plete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” Relationship breeds unity.

So, it’s not about the ‘meeting’ itself but it’s about our connectedness with each other. It’s about being concern about others. It’s not “how-many-volunteers-can-you-send-to-me” but how can I serve you. It’s not about our agenda but it’s about the mission of love that Christ taught us. It’s not how many projects but how many new friends we met along the way. It’s not what I can get but what can I give.

Our mission starts at home. Do you want to change the world? Start in your backyard. Transformation is in direct result of the local community involvement. It is identifying the needs and resources and to mobilize our community towards transformation. It is not the projects that change our culture but it’s about how well we know our neighbors and to agree with each other that we can accomplish more together.

So, the official FHL week is over, but the relationships continue. The spirit of unity remains and propels new projects and services all around Central Indiana. It’s a lifestyle of servant leaders. That is why we have activities that go all throughout the year.

Imagine a city where people are more interested in giving than receiving. Think about a community of helping each other instead of competing against each other. Let’s believe in building neighborhood where unconditional love abounds instead of distrust and fear. This is the concept of ‘Backyard Mission’. Simple, practical and full of life.

This concept is already happening in many neighborhoods in Central Indiana. Now, let’s not stop here. It can be implemented in other cities, states and countries. It is a concept that can be adapted in any environment and cultures. We can influence any parts of the world to transform cities though the simple principles of bringing the tangible expression of God’s love to others.

It is with a heart of worship that we come before You today, Father. We don’t want to regard today merely as the end of a week of ministry but as the beginning of a year of Your favor and blessing.

Está con un corazón de la adoración que vengamos antes de usted hoy, padre. No deseamos mirar hoy simplemente como el final de una semana del ministerio sino como el principio de un año de su favor y bendición.
